Algimantas Mišeikis

Algimantas Mišeikis studied choral conducting under Konradas Kaveckas, Antanas Budriūnas and Klemensas Griauzdė at the Lithuanian Academy of Music. In 1977/78, he took courses with Neumann, Rohan and Vejnar at the Prague Academy of Music.

Since 1971, Algimantas Mišeikis has been working as the second conductor of the Kaunas State Choir. He has contributed greatly to preparing sophisticated programmes for concerts at home and abroad and has conducted concerts dedicated to the 100th anniversaries of the birth of the Lithuanian composers Juozas Gruodis, Stasys Šimkus, Juozas Tallat-Kelpša, Juozas Žilevičius and Kazimieras Viktoras Banaitis.

In 1987, Mišeikis started working with the vocal group of the Rasa Song and Dance Ensemble. For 17 years, he led the Mixed Choir of the Kaunas Institute of Medicine, giving hundreds of concerts in Lithuania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Latvia, Estonia and Belarus. In 1991, he established a choir at St. Francis Xavier's (Jesuit) Church. Mišeikis is a teacher at the Kaunas Faculty of the Lithuanian Academy of Music, consultant and conductor of national and regional song festivals, and a member of the panel of judges at many auditions and competitions for choirs. In 1980, Mišeikis was awarded the title of Honorary Artist.
